Natural Resources Specialist (Ranger)

Duties Perform a wide variety of simple to difficult assignments involving all aspects of project operations including Recreation, Contract Administration, Environmental Stewardship, and Environmental Compliance.
Serve in a public relation capacity by interacting with the general public, special groups, adjacent property owners, civic groups, conservation associations and school groups.
Enforce Title 36 Code of Federal Regulations (CFR) by educating the visiting public on project purposes, conditions, policies and regulations.
Patrol project lands and waters to prevent unauthorized use, trespass, destruction of property, and to ensure compliance with rules and regulations, and protection of project land, water, facilities and other environmental resources.
Foster commitment and satisfaction within fellow team members by participating in group tasks that promote success in all work groups at the project office.
Show politeness to others and maintains effective working relationships.
Effectively performs job duties while encountering individuals who are difficult, hostile, or distressed.
Utilize a computerized data management system (e.
g.
, Geographic Information System (GIS) or Global Positioning System (GPS) used in a natural resource and/or recreation project in order to capture spatial information.

This position has a Temporary Duty (TDY) or business travel requirement of 10% of the time.
This position requires shift work to provide coverage on evenings, weekends, holidays, or special situations.
This position requires incumbent to obtain Title 36 Citation Authority within one year.
This position requires the completion of a pre-employment Physical Examination and an annual examination thereafter to ensure the continued, required level of physical health and ability or fitness to perform the duties of the position.
This position requires working in inclement and adverse weather conditions.
This position is subject to a pre-employment screening, and random testing thereafter, to include testing based on reasonable suspicion and testing due to direct involvement with an on-duty accident.
This position requires incumbent to wear uniform and badge at all time.
This position requires incumbent to obtain and maintain the Corps of Engineers boat operator's license within 2 years.
This position requires incumbent to complete the required Park Ranger training (including, CPR, First Aid, Blood Borne Pathogens, Unarmed Self Defense and acquiring Title 36 Citation Authority) within one year.
The incumbent is subject to the hazards associated with working in and around wooded areas, along the shoreline and on waters of the lake.

Degree:
Bachelor's degree (or higher degree) in biological sciences, agriculture, natural resource management, chemistry, or related disciplines appropriate to the position.

Courses equivalent to a major, as shown in A above, plus appropriate experience or additional education.
